High Sierra Lacrosse Needs You!

The mission of the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to promote the sport of lacrosse in the Reno-Tahoe area. We are entirely self-funded and receive no financial support from the school districts in Nevada or California, or the city-sponsored youth sports associations. We have no paid members and operate on a volunteer staff. Since our inception in 2007, we have been privileged to provide more than $100,000 in donations to the local lacrosse community to help promote the sport that we and our children love to play. The donations have come from our fundraising and volunteer efforts, and all of that work has been given back to the local lacrosse community. Field space, Goals, Coaches and Officials training, Equipment and Player Scholarships… High Sierra Lacrosse has quietly provided, or had a hand in providing, the funds and support necessary for every student-athlete in our area to play lacrosse. No one has been, or will ever be, turned away because of means.

It is really a community victory, because through your time and effort, we have been able to provide funding for all the programs we see today.

We need your help to keep it going. To continue our work, we need you, the parents and players, to give some time back to the game that you and your children enjoy so much. We raise the majority of our funds every year during five events:

  1. The Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament Men’s Open – Annually in late July
  2. The Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament Men’s Masters – Annually in late July
  3. The Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament High School U-19 – Annually in late July
  4. The Squaw Valley Oktoberfest – Annually in late September/early October
  5. Laxtoberfest – Annually in late September/early October

Two of those are major events: The Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament Men’s Open and the Squaw Valley Oktoberfest. Together, they both raise the majority of our annual funding. However, we can’t do it without you. We need you, our community, to give us your time during these events to help this great game.

Will you give 4 hours in July for the  Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournaments in Incline Village? We need 60 volunteers to give 4 hours of their time during our annual U-19 Tournament in Incline Village in July. We then need another 60 volunteers during the Men's Tournament. Volunteers run scoring tables, help with set-up and breakdown, pour beer (at the Men’s events), and generally help these events run smoothly. The tournaments offer some of the best post-collegiate and HS-level lacrosse you can see locally, and you can have a front seat and direct access to the action. Even the youngest players can volunteer to watch the games up-close and chase lacrosse balls.

Will you give 6 hours for the Oktoberfest at Squaw Valley? We need 60 folks to pour beer, sell pretzels, and help with registrations/ID checks at the Oktoberfest event at Squaw Valley. The event takes up one afternoon and your entry is free as a volunteer. Once again, it is a front row seat to the action of the event. Families, dogs, and all kinds of fun are welcome. Sign up with your team to host a beer tent or run one of the concession/admin stations. Fall in the Sierra with friends and your extended lacrosse family? All raising money for local boys and girls lacrosse? This should be easy…

Nearly 900 players participated in High Sierra Lacrosse Programs in Spring 2014 alone. At a minimum, it is only part of a day… in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Will you join us and your friends as a part of something that helps our kids? All it takes is a little time.

We can’t do it alone. It doesn’t require much skill… it just takes heart, caring for our kids and the great things they get from this game. Please help us help your athlete… give us something, so that we can continue to give to the game and promote lacrosse for the next generation of boys and girls players.

Please click HERE to sign up for one of our great events today.

100% of the money raised goes directly to your athlete’s programs.

Thank you for helping us promote this great game here in the region!
